John C. Fremont Chapter, NSDAR
Located in the Carson & Eagle Valleys
of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains

Edith Milo, retired school teacher of 52 years from New York State, and a long time member of the John C. Fremont Chapter, NSDAR,
left an endowment to our Chapter to be used for Scholarships. Edith enjoyed giving our Flag program, telling of the
history of the American Flag. In her honnor, we have created the Edith Milo Scholarship Fund,
and currently give a Scholarship to a local student at Western Nevada College each year.

The Nevada State C.A.R. and the John C. Fremont Chapter, NSDAR placed a Flag Retirement Bin at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Minden on June 17, 2017. This is the State Project for the Children of the American Revolution in Nevada. The location is very popular and the bin has been filling up rapidly. Community partnerships have been developed to ensure flags will be collected and properly retired. Each box costs around $350 to purchase and have the decals put on.
